There was a fire last night at Pentridge Mill Burnley, I happened to be at the Singing Ringing tree at the time taking photos and managed to get some long range shots of the blaze. I later followed the smoke to the mill which was surrounded by fire engines and decided to take a few more pictures. I have sent the following pictures to various newspapers and have had them displayed as part of the news feeds on the following sites:
I think a couple of the pictures will be featured in tomorrows Lancashire Evening Telegraph and some in Fridays Burnley Express. Not bad for a Monday night with the Camera! I took the long distance shots from Crown Point in Burnley using my Nikon 70-300mm VR lens with a 1.7x Kenko teleconverter giving me a 510mm lens which I had to manual focus, try holding that still at that range! the pictures aren’t my best but I’ll learn.
The photos I took are below [click for a larger view] or a slideshow from the Burnley Express can be viewed here Slideshow:
I haven’t had chance to update the site much lately I’ve been busy teaching myself photography. I have created a new section called My Photography, which is a selection of my Smoke art pictures all of which can be purchased from here:
I hope you like them!
Just got back from Victory Park in Barnoldswick, it wasn’t a bad fireworks display. It was £16 for my family to get in which I think was a bit steep but at least we managed to get to an organised display, our annual Burnley display (which is free!) was cancelled this year due to building works. All the pictures I have taken were with my Cameraphone (Sony Ericsson K800i) as I couldn’t be bothered setting up my tripod for my proper Camera (Nikon D40x) due to the amount of people.
Anyway the night was fun and alot of people attended if you would like to view my pictures they are here: Pendles Fireworks Fantasia I can’t currently display any in the post as Wordpress wants to view them full size instead of Thumbnail?.
The pictures have all been run through Imagenomic because they were a bit noisy and grainy but they didn’t come out too bad. Hope you had fun at your displays.
We’ve just had the phone call we didn’t want, Meatloaf has cancelled his concert at Manchester MEN Arena which was scheduled for tomorrow night 04.11.07. We’re gutted to be honest but the warning bells were tolling after he left the stage in Newcastle. I’d rather he was fit and well though than whinge about not going. The show is re-scheduled for 27th November but we have asked for our money back as we still don’t think he will be upto it by then. When you put as much effort into a concert as he does something has to give eventually. All the best Meatloaf get well soon and as the song goes there’s not a dry eye in the house…………..
In the words of Gary Strange we win!!!, Simons deal has been accepted subject to contract. This I expect will be completed on Monday. All staff will be notified when all this is completed and I suspect it will be back to work on tuesday. Next week will be a very busy one so come prepared! to everyone that has been in this week you will need to switch your brains back on!,Have a great weekend see you all soon.
Well that was a busy week, thought we’d take advantage of the weather and our week off work. We’ve been to White Scar Caves in Ingleton, Windermere, Skipton Castle and South lakes wild animal park. We went to a couple of these as it was our first Wedding Anniversary last Sunday 05.08.07 and we visited some of these places on our Honeymoon last year.
Some photos I took can be seen below:

I was hoping we were going to enjoy this show, we set off this morning knowing it was going to cost £25 to get in for 2 adults and a child. So we set off early to make the most of it and we did!, we had a great day. If anyone was contemplating going this year but didn’t, make sure you go next year. The weather probably had something to do with it aswell as it was sunny all day, I currently look like a new form of lobster that was wearing goggles in the sunshine!. But never mind there was a fair, stalls, rides and shows to keep us occupied and we made sure we viewed everything.
The shows consisted of:
Big Pete - Monster Event Display Team with a Wheelying Fire Engine!!
Xtreme Trials Display Team showing what you can do with a trials bike.
UKFMX - Freestyle MX Team a brilliant display of airborne tricks on Motor X bikes.
The Purple Helmets er……..best see their site for the full info!
Titan Robot man or machine great fun to see in action.

This was the annual Hot Air Balloon event here in sunny Burnley. We only really went down to view the Night glow part of the 2 day show so I can’t comment on all of it. I must say this years event was a bit of a let down for me as there was no Firework display to co-ordinate with the balloons and Music, instead we had lasers. Now I liked some of the laser effects but I’m a big kid for fireworks!, so I hope this is rectified for next year. The Night glow was cut short on this occassion as it started to rain again! and the balloons don’t like getting wet so it all ended a bit sudden. Below are a few pics I took whilst there:

Well today was the annual open day at the Rocket Centre Motorcycle dealership in Blackburn, after I managed to park up my car (it was packed!) my phone went flat and I had forgotten my camera so here are a few pictures taken on my wife’s phone:
